We also automatically collect limited technical data when you visit our page:

3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information you provide for the following purposes:
- Petition purposes: To record and count signatures, compile petition results, and present findings to legislators, school boards, and the public;
- Newsletter delivery: To send you the Good News Brief daily newsletter you subscribed to;
- Communications: To send you occasional updates directly related to this petition or related advocacy campaigns;
- Fraud prevention: To detect and prevent duplicate, bot-generated, or fraudulent signatures;
- Legal compliance: To comply with applicable laws, regulations, or lawful government requests.
We will not use your information for any purpose materially different from those listed above without first obtaining your consent.
4. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share your information only in the following limited circumstances:
- Beehiiv (newsletter platform): Your name and email address are transmitted to Beehiiv, our email service provider, solely to deliver the Good News Brief newsletter. Beehiiv processes this data under their own Privacy Policy;
- Public petition results: Aggregated signature counts and, if you have provided consent, your name may appear in publicly shared petition results submitted to legislators or published in the media. We will never publicly share your email address;
- Legal obligations: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, subpoena, court order, or other legal process, or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, or investigate fraud;
- Business transfers: In the unlikely event of a merger, acquisition, or transfer of petition assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Privacy Policy.
5. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this policy:
- Petition signatures are retained indefinitely as part of the official petition record;
- Newsletter subscriber data is retained until you unsubscribe. After unsubscribing, your email is removed from active mailing lists within 10 business days, though a suppression record may be kept to honor your opt-out preference;
- Technical log data is retained for up to 90 days.
6. Your Rights and Choices
You have the following rights regarding your personal information:
- Access: You may request a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- Correction: You may request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
- Deletion: You may request deletion of your personal information. Note that petition signatures, once submitted, may be retained as part of the official record even if other data is removed;
- Unsubscribe: You may opt out of the Good News Brief at any time by clicking "unsubscribe" in any newsletter email or by contacting us;
- Opt out of future campaigns: You may request that we not contact you about future petition campaigns.

7. Children's Privacy
The Services are not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately.
8. Data Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. These include:
- Transmitting all data over encrypted HTTPS connections;
- Storing API credentials and sensitive configuration as encrypted server-side secrets, never in publicly accessible code;
- Limiting access to personal data to those who need it to operate the Services.
However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Third-Party Links
Our petition page may contain links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party sites you visit.
10. California Privacy Rights
If you are a California resident, you may have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), including the right to know, delete, and opt out of the sale of personal information. 11. CAN-SPAM Compliance
All emails we send comply with the CAN-SPAM Act. Every newsletter email includes:
- A clear identification of the sender;
- A valid physical mailing address;
